A.K Mukhopadhyay

Dr. Asok Kumar Mukhopadhyay is former Vice-Chancellor, Tripura University; former Sir R.B. Ghosh Professor in Electrical Engineering, Department of Applied Physics, Faculty of Technology and former Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, University of Calcutta. He obtained his M.Tech and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Calcutta in 1967 and 1971, respectively, and was HOD, Applied Physics, University of Calcutta. His fields of interest include Modelling of Continuous and Discontinuous Systems of Electrical Engineering and Electronics and Microprocessor applications in the area of Monitoring, Control, Protection and Instrumentation. He has published over 155 technical papers in national and international journals. He is the recipient of the National Associateship, YESE Award; Best Technical Paper Award by the Central Electricity Authority, Govt. of India; Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Memorial Prize Railway Board Prize; The Union Ministry of Energy-Department of Power Medal, etc. for his outstanding contribution to the development of science and technology. Prof. Mukhopadhyay is Fellow of West Bengal Academy of Science and Technology; Institution of Engineers (India); Institution of Instrumentation Scientists and Technologists (India) Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers, India; Member of Indian Society for Technical Education; Society of Power Engineers (India) and Hony Member of the IEEE (ICC) USA. Prof. Mukhopadhyay has been nominated as the UNESCO International Expert in the field of Microprocessors, Microcomputers and their applications.
