Dr. R.S. Singh is M.Sc., M.Ed., M.Phil., Ph.D. (Biotechnology) from Punjabi University, Patiala having more than ten years experience in fermentation technology, microbial technology, biochemical engineering, food biotechnology and environmental biotechnology. Presently working as Reader and engaged in active research and teaching in Department of Biotechnology, Punjabi university, Patiala. Guided 42 Post Graduate students, 2 Ph.D. students for their research work and presently , 6 Ph.D. students are under supervision in the area of food and fermentation technology. Received training in strain improvement and waste management from CFTRI, Mysore and TIET, Patiala, respectively. Attended many workshops on �Patent Awareness� and �IPR in Biotechnology� organized by PSCST, Chandigarh and CIMAP, Luckhnow. On the editorial board of Journal of Punjab Academy of Sciences and editor of the Biotechnology and Biophysics section of the Encyclopedia for the children to be published by Punjabi University, Patiala. Published more 30 research papers in National/International journals, 3 review articles, 2 book chapters and 4 popular articles besides presented 25 research papers in conferences. Also presented research papers in International conferences �Cellulose� 91� and �Pittcon 98�, USA. Has successfully completed two UGC research projects and one research project on the production and purification of thermostable aspartase from CSIR, New Delhi is under progress. Current interests in research are the high fructose syrups, maltotriose syrups, artificial sweeteners and production & purification of enzymes for utilization in food industry. Served as members of board of studies in Biotechnology and Food Technology of Punjabi University, Patiala, SHSL-CIET, Longowal and Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar. Honorary consultant to Mount Shivalik Brewery Ltd., Ranger Brewery Ltd., Pepsi Food Ltd. and Verka Milk Plants.
